An analytical video overview of how our Detroit food system works, by interviewing local makers, long-term stakeholders, and the people involved in the food process daily. Join us as we explore food equity, urban farming, food distribution, local grocers, food processing, rising food costs, home gardening options, and much much more.

Overview
We are what we eat, and that's where our mission begins. What, Where, and How, does food move through our region. In this 6 part series we will dissect the food ecosystem in our metro. We will interview wholesalers, distributors, and growers of our food. We will address the food desert and the challenges Detroiters face in finding healthy food. We will also share in new ways and habits for home gardening and ways to save everyday.
Goals
Produce 6 ( 30 minute shows in video format ) that will be then edited into a 90 minute combined documentary.
Create an interactive site describing our food ecosystem in Detroit
Distribute each show through our youtube | roku |Very Detroit social + possibly channels like PBS and more?
Specifications
Our goal is to start from the core of our food distribution, whereby we would focus on where our food comes from, i.e. Eastern Market and Fort Street. We will talk with food processors dealing with the meat industry, and the local and community farming supplementing the system. We will identify opportunities and share possibilities.
Part 1: Reverse engineer products i.e. Detroit Bold Coffee ( Beans, Roasting,Distribution)
Part 2: Distribution how does food move: ( What, Where, How ) Sysco Systems
Part 3: Where consumers get their food, Markets, Grocers, Delivered ( Food Deserts ) ( Box)
Part 4: Restaurants and Beverages
Part 5: Local Community Gardens and Markets
Part 6: How do we make Detroit Food System World Class
Milestones
Production & Post
Script and define each episode. Identify and schedule all interviews, locations and participants. All shoots will be directed and produced by us.
Post Production will produce a 30sec & 1min. trailer to be used in social media + 6 ( 30 min. pieces) and a compilation 90 minute documentary.
Media Distribution: Est. 1M to 10 Million Reach to be achieved within 18 months after release.
Total Cost: Corporate Sponsorship | Small Business | Individual Support & Grants will be needed to complete the project.
